From 2015 up until this week - my MacBook would automatically switch between the built-in sound and my external USB audio interface. It used to be that my MacBook would switch to the external audio interface whenever it was plugged in. Now, I have to constantly open System Preferences > Sound and manually choose my audio interface. Why the change? I didn't notice any options settings for automatically detecting and switching to an external audio interface

I bought my mid 2015 MacBook Pro fully loaded in 2015 and currently run Monterey 12.6.5. My audio interface is Steinberg UR44 (purchased in 2015). I do have two Steinberg UR44 audio interfaces which are both used throughout the week - each audio interface is at a different work station.

Any ideas?
