Hey everyone
I’m looking for some answers about the official usb-c power supply compability and hope someone can try it out of has something to say about it.
I switched to a retina 12inch MB and an iPad mini I bought used.
After getting the usb-c to lightning cable I just kept charging everything with the 29watt power brick and I absolutely love using one power brick for all my devices on the go.
This year I will be switching to a 15inch MBP because I need to get back into editing video later this year.
I thought about getting another 29watt brick and would love to keep charging the iPhone and iPad on the go with this little guy even when I sell the 12 MB with its accessories...

Question to those who might have experience or the chance to test it:
Would it be possible to carry around the 29watt charger and use it as a backup / emergency solution for the 15inch MBP? Powering the MBP off and charging it will obviously be possible but what about using the MBP while charging with the 29watt power brick, let’s say...
- having the display brightness pretty low and using pages to type a document
- or watching an iTunes movie
- or using VLC with an 1080p file?
Can anyone test if their touchbar 15inch MBP uses more than 29watt power while doing those activities?

I want to find out if it is okay combining the two without confusing the power drainage between power supply and built in battery... but would still love to be able to use the smaller brick on a flight or travel while having the bigger one in my suitcase or maybe even at home when I’m only writing emails or pages documents.
Of course every heavy work will be done with the 87watt brick attached ...

Should be alright, at the very least it will slow down the discharge. These Macs tend to get 8-10 hours doing the light tasks you mentioned though, why bother with a charger at all?

Otherwise if you've got space for a 29w charger then you've likely got space for the proper charger too, there's size and weight difference but is it worth the hassle and potential of running out of battery for the sake of a few grams?

Thanks for the reply, I'm just super curious how that scenario would play out.
I always have the 29W charger in my bag anyway so when going out having the 29W with me anyway no matter the device and leaving the 87W at the desk is convenient to me. Or if I own both anyway, why make the messenger bag heavier.
So I'm just curious now and would love for any real world input.
