Hello, I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and in Apple's specifications it says it supports native Display Port by Thunderbolt3.

The Dell UP2716D monitor says it supports DP and HDMI by 1440p 60hz. It's better to get USB C to DisplayPort or it makes no difference from hdmi. I read that using DP there is no conversion on Mac, is it true?

For 1440p 60Hz, I would think it makes no difference.

The 4 USB C ports are a luxury, I don't even need a hub, just a direct cable.

Displayport is incorporated into the TB and USB-C standards and the Mac's TB ports support what's called "DisplayPort Alternative Mode" whereby the computer effectively sends a DisplayPort-format signal via the USB-C connector. It would be nice to say that a USB-C-to-DisplayPort cable/adapter is a simple, passive device, but in reality there are always some gubbins in there for power conversion, cable ID etc.

USB-C to HDMI converters still use DisplayPort Alt Mode and therefore need to include an active DisplayPort to HDMI converter chip.

On some Macs, the ports can support higher resolutions, frame rates etc. via DisplayPort than are possible with a HDMI 2.0 adapter - but with 4k UHD on a 2017 Mac that probably won't be an issue.

You should still check the specs on whatever adapter you get to ensure it can do 3840x2160 "UHD" @ 60Hz on your Mac model.

All other things being equal, if your display has DisplayPort, I'd go with USB-C to DisplayPort.

I've successfully used USB-C to DP cables from Plugable with a 2017 iMac and 4k UHD displays.

DisplayPort is preferred due to the better spec and the fact alt-mode from USB-C is a DP signal.

Yes, there is, I ended up buying USB C to DisplayPort from Ugreen with support up to 8k 60hz.
