My 27" iMac late 2013 3.2 i5 16GB ram Catalina 10.15.7 is plugged into a home audio system with a mini jack plug. The jack socket in the back of the iMac is dodgy, so I bought an un-branded male USB-A to female mini jack adapter which worked great for a year or so, but recently died. On looking for a replacement, I found that nearly all of the available interfaces are now USB-C based.
So I bought an un-branded USB-C to mini jack audio interface and an un-branded USB-A male to USB-C female adapter so it can plug into the iMac.
Unfortunately, apart from some crackling, it does not pass any audio through at all. However in the System Preferences Sound panel, it recognises the interface as "UC02". Does anyone know if I can get this to work? Or is there a better, reasonably priced solution. Thanks very much.
