Good day everyone, I'm new to this forum, so I'm not sure if I have posted to the right thread.

I'm currently running the mid-2015 rMBP 15". I also have an OWC Thunderbolt 2 dock. Recently, after updating to build 15A243d, I have been getting the notification of USB device disabled as it is drawing too much power.

I would like to know how am I able to resolve this issue. I have heard that one of the ways to resolve is to reset the SMC. However, I have attempted to do so, but the issue still persist. Would be glad if someone could help me on this!

From my experience, that tends to be a defective or low quality USB cable. It might be coincidental to your update.

I'm using OWC's Thunderbolt cable to connect the Thunderbolt dock to my computer. Should I try with another cable instead?

No, he's talking about replacing the USB cable for the device that's being reported as drawing too much power...

Have you tried moving the device in question to one of the high power ports on the side of the dock?

It would not hurt to try another cable, or try another device using the same cable.

Yup, I have tried using other higher powered ports. Doesn't work either. The devices do work when I connect it directly to my computer. Guess I'll try with a new thunderbolt cable!
