USB Expresscard that's reasonable size?

I might be crazy but are there any Expresscards for the MacBook Pro that could turn the slot into a single USB port while remaining flush with the edge of the computer? The slot seems to be wide enough to accommodate one but I haven't seen any. The ones I have seen are bulky and jut out with several ports whereas I would like just one port, flush with the side of the computer.

If this is impossible, are there Firewire 400 to USB adapters available? Haven't seen any.
