OS X usb flash drive as 'cd key'?

hi...

i have a original CD of COD4 but problem is my CD drive (Mac mini) is malfunctioning. it keeps on ejecting every cd i insert.

can i just copy the CD via usb flash drive? will it work like a CD key?

anyway looks like apple is getting rid of CD/drive . if this happen then what shall i do with my other retail CD games? ext drive seem impractical and too much clutter

The CD key is the alpha-numeric serial number the game asks you for when you install it. This is found in the documentation, usually on the back cover of the manual. If the original disc doesn't have any form of copy protection (being that it's a Mac game, it probably doesn't), you could, in theory, copy it to a flash drive and install from there.

yes it's mac version. i still have my alphanumeric code in the box. ive just sent a message to aspyr. thanks..

btw i also have several retail cd that no longer run in mountain lion. will i still get a fresh download of it?

"No One Lives Forever" wasn't an Aspyr title, and there is no digital version of Rainbow Six...BUT...Doom 3 was just updated and rereleased by us last year, so we can definitely get you a fresh code for it. Again, we always require a picture of your original copy, but we are glad to help!

Bottom line, if you are an Aspyr customer new or old...we do everything within our power to hook you up. Thanks for the support!
