Hi all,

I have looked at many forums to solve this so forgive me if this seems like it has already been answered in other posts, I don't think it has, perhaps it cannot be.

I have a Lacie 8Gb iamakey flash drive and it was not working properly so i used disk utility to format it and it stopped running through the process, stupidly i was annoyed with the time taken as i had other things to do and I force quit disk utility. Since then the USB drive does not show up on my iMac, Linux laptop or Windows 7, 10. The only place I can find it is in system profiler, where i believe it is shown up as "composite device".

I have tried various options to access this drive but I am completely stumped, the only other time it is acknowledged is the ping when inserted into a PC but it only appears in "device manager" as a faulty USB.

This is from system profiler
Composite Device:

Product ID: 0x1027

Vendor ID: 0x059f (LaCie)

Version: 1.00

Location ID: 0x14400000

There is no data i need from the drive i just want it to work again, I wondered if there is a way to find it in terminal and format it? I have tried many different ways to find it in terminal but either it is not found or there is so much text on screen I cannot decipher what I am meant to look for.

Thanks for any pointers or help

Rob

He is right...this is all cheap chinese stuff....I have had at least 3 iphone cables die on me...quality control in China is an unknown concept.

Yeah good point, I like the USB, but yeah its causing too much stress and time to worry about. Time for the bin I guess.
Thanks for the reality check :)
