Hi all again;

What are your thoughts on USB hubs for the Mac mini m1

Dumb question, but wink it add extra wear and tear on the mini m1??

I was looking at getting this as it has optical audio out

As always thanks so much for your great advice

Why USB-C and not Thunderbolt? Is pricing a major factor in your decision? TB3 docks have way more bandwidth (40gbps vs 10 gbps).

I use Caldigit TS3+ with my i7 mini. It being a permanent desktop, I never unplug from the dock and all the peripherals are kept plugged in. Just power and TB3 cable to mini. Why would there be wear and tear? Can you explain?

I seem to remember a video posted on YouTube about not using hubs, but then it's YouTube so what can I say
I'd just like to have everything plugged in and not worry about stuff I also like the fact this device has a digital audio output as well

Probably if you keep the two (mini and dock) plugged in to each other at all times, there wouldn't be much wear and tear to worry about. I see that on Amazon.ca TB3 docks are way more in price so if pricing is indeed a major consideration and digital audio is a must-have, then ?‍♂️
