USB microphone to buy

Hello
I am using my MacBook Pro 2020 for conferences very often. The lid is always closed and I am using external monitor.
Speakers are working fine but microwave is mute
Someone on another forum told me that MacBook microphone were designed to go on mute when lid is closed. He suggested to use USB microphone
Hence here are my 2 questions:
1. Do you agree about design suggestion?
2. Which microphone would you recommend to buy?
