USB OTG Question

I have a Nexus 4 and am wondering if USB OTG is supported out of the box, if I need to download an app, or if I need to root. Does anybody know?

I am sure it does with root and almost assuredly with a custom ROM. I would be very surprised if you couldn't get it to work.

Not yet apparently. Should be soon though. I bought an OTG adapter but can't use it yet. I'm rooted on my N4.
