Yes it's insanely fast and beautiful BUT my new M1 Pro still needs a dongle for my desktop setup. And the peripherals don't work.
The dongle (I hate saying "my dongle") with newish gaming keyboard and Evoluent mouse all work great with my 2016 MB Pro, my even older Mac Pro, and an Alienware gaming laptop.
The same C ports on the M1Pro run SSDs and a 4K monitor, but none detect the dongled peripherals.
Before I buy (and possibly waste money on) a new dongle - any comparable experiences or dock/protocol insights by other M1Pro owners?
Because even today, we live in Dongle City.

I have this usb-c hub from PrimeCables here in Canada.
(It looks like a generic re-brand so you might be able to find it somewhere else.)

It recognizes my monitor, my keyboard and my Evoluent VM4 and it doesn't need external power to drive these peripherals all at once.

With that said, my M1 air doesn't get the correct layout for my keyboard out of the box, and the mapping of the VM4, while still usable, is all over the place.

Evoluent has not released any MacOS driver after 10.14, saying Apple won't get them a dev kit, so I'd say they're unlikely to catch up any time soon.
