iPhone USB Plug Doesn't Work & Jailbroken

Hey guys, I've got a weird problem. I'm not sure what happened to my 4S, but the USB plug no longer functions. By that I mean the phone is not recognized by the computer and when I plug it into a charger, it does not display the charging icon (though the battery does charge).

This is clearly a hardware problem and I would just take it into the Apple store, but I'm jailbroken with 5.1.1 and my understanding is that Apple won't help you if you're jailbroken. But I am not aware of any way to restore the phone without using the restore function in iTunes.

Is there a way to restore? Should I take it to Apple anyways? Or am I just screwed?
 
Thanks. Definitely worth a try, but 3 plugs in two computers didn't do any good.

Another weird thing: if the phone is off and I plug it in (to an outlet or computer), it turns on, but then nothing else happens.

And it will only accept a charge if it is powered off.

my advice let the battery run down all the way if it's not recognized in itunes the genus probably won't be able to run diagnostics. you can complicate things by going to settings/reset/reset all settings. this will throw a jailbroken phone in a permanent loop or circle of death lol.. that can only be fixed by restoring. via the usb and dfu recovery. ;) that should complicate things enough.
 
Yeah I guess that's my last resort. The phone is still under warranty, so I suppose if I brought it in under a death spiral they'd maybe just swap it out. But I was really really hoping there was some kind of way to wirelessly restore it.
 
What if I took it in while it was still working, but with all jailbreak items, including Cydia, deleted? Would they even be able to tell? Then when we reset they'll see it go into the death spiral... but maybe that would indicate that it was jailbroken.
 
I am curious whether people have much experience taking death-spiralled iPhones into Apple Stores. Presumably it happens occasionally to people who don't jailbreak? My biggest concern is that I'd reset all settings, they still wouldn't help me for whatever reason, and then I'd have a totally unusable phone as opposed to one that works but can't be charged when powered on or updated.

Sorry I keep posting, but this is the possible key to what I need. Under Rocky Racoon in the Cydia Store:

"If your device relies on Rocky Racoon for untethering, which includes any iPad 2, iPad 3, or iPhone 4S running 5.1.1, uninstalling this package will unjailbreak your device."

I don't suppose it's that easy?
 
Yeah it seems hard to imagine that they would.

I have determined that it's easy enough to delete Cydia and without that and the ability to connect it to a USB, I'm not sure how anyone would detect that it's jailbroken. So it seems safe enough to just take it in.
