Hey, for anyone who currently owns the 13" New Macbook Air: can you charge an iphone through the USB port while in sleep mode? Just wondering, thanks!

i've tried this, doesn't work. it DOES however charge my iPad (when awake of course). this is nice, my mac pro and 15" mbp both won't charge it. they can sync with it, but the iPad does not charge while connected.

I don't know about MacBook Air. However, for the MBP 17" (2010 model), it charges the iPodTouch only when the computer is NOT in sleep mode. At first, I thought the computer charges the IPT even during sleep (as indicated on the IPT). However, sometimes the IPT lost battery power very quickly. After talking with the Genius, we found that when sleep, the current from the USB port is not strong enough to charge the IPT properly. So, she suggested me to charge the IPT while keeping the computer on. Since then, the charging works fine.

I didn't think these were sleep-powered USB ports, however, I did notice my speakers were still getting charged even after I closed the lid. So I just tested it with my phone, even when unplugged and the lid closed, I can plug my phone in to charge in either side.

Does this mean when I close the lid it's not a deep sleep or when I plug a USB device in the computer wakes? It seems like odd behavior for me.
