USB ports stop working after sleep?

Recently noticed a strange quirk with my Mac mini. I left it to go to sleep, came back later and my mouse didn't respond... Thought it was the battery. Plugged in a wired mouse, still nothing. Tried it in all ports, nothing. Bluetooth keyboard was fine.

After a restart, they were fine again.

Any ideas? I've done nothing to my Mac mini, 2012 model. Any other quirks (screen flicker) were fixed by updates.
