I just hookedup my brothers electric guitar to my macbook so that he can record it into garageband (just connected it to the line-in and turned up the input level slider, set it to mono channel 1 and it worked fine)
now thats great but i wanted to know how much a usb soundcard would cost so i could do a simular thing with my mac mini (no line in on that
)
do i have to buy one from apple or will any usb soundcard work (not worried about recording quality (at least not at this stage) but im not sure if id need a driver or they just get reconised as a usb sound device?)
I don't want to spend a lot of money on one as it might not get used very often just for my brother to mess about with garageband really.
mini is a powerpc g4 1.5ghz mini if that helps.
