Was wondering if it was possible to hook up a Lightning camera kit from the iPad, the USB version or SD Card version to the 5S now that it has been jailbroken, via iFile.

And the 5S is capable of this as Mophie (Space) is releasing a battery case that you can use to access 16gb or 32gb via a app on the iphone , and doesn't requires wifi or bluetooth.

iOS 7 allows the use of the camera connection kit on iPhones now without jail breaking. I found this put earlier this week from this forum.

Are you sure it's storage access and not plain USB periphere (e.g., keyboard - see http://gazwilliams.me/2013/10/05/ios7-allows-usb-connection-on-iphones/ ) access? It's only the latter has become available (previously, it was only possible via "CameraConnector", at least prior to 0.0.2d3-3 - see my compatibility warning at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1585009/ )

Storage access, not even for the walled-garden image / video importing, is still not supported as of 7.1b3 on non-iPads. I've just tested this with the 30-pin CCK card reader + 30-pin -> Lightning adapter combo, which worked just fine on my iPad 4 for image import (as has always did, even before iOS7) - but, of course, not on the iPhone 5.

So you can use the sd card via this connection. To store media?

No, you can't - see my just-posted comment.

Thanks !

I get sd adaptor is not supported on this device error.

However I get a 'xxx USB is not supported' using the USB adaptor suggesting it does 'recognise' the USB adaptor.

That being said, it's pretty pointless for storage. Even if a tweak came out to allow in storage, the power requirements would be its downfall. It's one thing to use a hub with the ipad to get around it but with a phone as well? Be too messy IMO lol.

Sd card would be great though...maybe someday they will add support for the adaptor

As has always did under all iOS versions.

A cheap and flexible way of quickly transferring (even brand new, just-shot) videos or photos to an iDevice.

They won't. There's a reason for their only allowing restricted photo / video import using the CCK (and nothing else, storage-wise) and only on the iPad (but not on the iPhone): their lucrative storage business ($100 / double the storage) to protect.

I guess the best hope is for a tweak to allow usb storage devices. Be nice if someone could patch the kernel to remove the usb power limitation though.

This just appeared on reddit if you haven't seen it yet:

Wonder if anyone will attempt it lol.

Did a tweak to allow usb storage devices on a iphone ever exist? Hasn't there been one or two...maybe 'uncompleted' attempts?
