I’ve used my Sapphire RX580 8 GB with three display port outputs to 3 Samsung 4K monitors only my Mac Pro 5,1

After browsing around here it seems like most people that drive 3 displays use 2X DP cables and 1 HDMI.

Is there any benefit to switching to that method or am I giving up any performance using all 3 DisplayPort ports?

This is a link to the card I have.

You have three displayports on the Sapphire RX580? Mine had only two and two HDMI.

The XFX RX580 GTS 8GB (the one everyone says doesn't work) has 3x displayport and is very much more useful. It actually works fine.

yeah, it's 2x DP, 2x HDMI. The biggest problem, is DP has a stupid "feature" in the standard, where when the display enters sleep mode, it sends a disconnect signal to the computer. So when you wake the machine up, you can find your window arrangement is messed up, as not all apps recover from the disconnect / reconnect cycle.

Hence, I have my main 27", which has the menubar on it, hooked up via HDMI, and the pair of 24" hooked up to DP, and a little app called "Stay" which lets you save and reset window positions.

I've just started getting into Keyboard Maestro, & Hazel (fixed a really annoying Capture One issue with KM), would you mind sharing a screenshot / the recipe for your KM solution?

Hey so i acutally used a homebrew package dispalyplacer which is a bash script. You can find at the link below.

I have this script run with my Macro that opens all my apps at login
