Hi All,
I am running into difficulties streaming video content from my IPAD2/iphone4 to my apple TV via Airplay.
When I stream content via airplay to my apple TV where that content is stored on the IPAD/iphone4, then I receive both Audio and Video which is great. No problems there then!
However when the content I am streaming from the IPAD2/iphone4 to the apple TV is from a shared library on MY PC i.e. content is not stored on the IPAD2/iphone4 at all but is accessible on these devices via Home Sharing, I am receving audio on the apple TV but the video remains playing on the device.
I am beignning to think that streaming shared library content from an ios device via airplay does not work for video, cause the content is not stored locally on the ios device. This would seem to be the logical answer right? Ah but wait a minute! Strangely enough, im pretty much certain that I was able to do this prior to installing the latest and greatest apple TV firmware upgrade. (Then again I could be going Crazy!)
All firmware on my ios devices is the latest version, as is itunes and apple TV software. Have quadruple checked all my configurations settings on the devices & router also!
Am I missing something, or am I just asking for a little bit much too soon?
Oh ya and one more thing...
I know I should not need to stream content from a shared library via an ios device as the apple TV will pick up the shared library directly itself, negating the need to do any of this.
But its still kinda bugging me why this cannot be done indirectly by streaming to the ios device and then using the ios device to airplay this to ATV2 Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think home sharing from the iOS device currently allows video to be air played. Instead you can use Air Video and make sure you download the latest beta of the server app and you can AirPlay any file stored on your computer using your iPad to your tv. Even in formats not supported by the apple tv.

@newagemac Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Airvideo works perfectly for me, so thanks alot of the suggestion! Bit disappointed that apple have not properly incoprorated this into their IOS to date.
Thanks Again!

Use the Apple remote app. AirPlay isn't designed (yet), to stream video from your Mac, to your iPad/iPhone, to your :apple:tv. Really, this is an unessary step, anyway.
