this is probably not possible but i was wondering if there is a way to use both ATT and T-Mobile/other cell towers. I am a current ATT costumer and it would be cool to get more phone coverage in some areas. Is it possible to use other cell towers? or would that just be considered roaming??

I have the iphone 1.1.4 jailbroken.

at&t SIMs contain a code. That code will only allow you access to at&t towers and partner towers when you can't get a signal from an at&t tower. Sometimes you will get signals from several towers, when you can't get full signal from a single tower, but multiple towers can increase your range. To my knowledge there is no way to force access to multiple towers, and you cannot force yourself onto a non-partner tower, except for 911 calls.

you say theres a code on the sim card..can that code be edited in anyway? if you can make 911 calls off of any tower, there must be a setting in there enabling that. -if thats the case, there has to be a way to make is work with all calls.

If you change the code, you won't have any access. That is what makes a SIM card tied to a particular company. 911 access is granted because the phone sends out the 911 on all frequencies, then a tower picks it up does the appropriate handshaking and makes the call. Once the call is done, you are disconnected again.

they should make a cross carrier sim card/company. Is there anyway to get better signal or coverage?
