Hi,

I have a HP laptop (windows 7) and would like to extend my display towards my imac, late 2013 (Yosemite) I'm using a thunderbolt cable to do so.
I tried:
1. connecting the two while they are both awake and running - no luck
2. connecting them when they are both closed - no luck
3. alternating one closed one open - no luck
I used the Fn +F8 and win key + P on the hp win laptop to try to add the display and also used CMD + F2 as well as CMD + FN + F2 on th imac and nothing.
The laptop could not see a second monitor in the control panel + Display settings.

Is this even possible? There is a lot of confusion out there!
Thanks,
Alex

P.S. I also tryed connecting my mac book pro - late 2013 (windows 7) through the same procedures, no success. I'm a .NET developer and need windows to code.

Does the HP laptop have a Thunderbolt port, or Mini DisplayPort? If it only has the latter, using a Thunderbolt cable wil make no difference.
