is it possible to use my macbook pro as a secondary screen with my mac mini?

the macbook pro is a mid 2010 model with mini-display port

the current monitor i have hooked up to the mini is a late 2008 LED Cinema display. i have the minidisplay port connect to the mini via thunderbolt.

my previous set up was the mini diplay from the monitor to laptop which allowed me to seamlessly use both monitors

i am wondering if there is any adapter that would allow me to accomplish using both monitors together?

edit: forgot to say that the mini is a late 2012

No. At least not just using a simple cable.

You can use a software package like: http://www.screenrecycler.com/ScreenRecycler.html
