I have been sent a sound clip in an mms (as bluetooth wont work properly)

How can I use the sound clip as a ring/text tone? (I can only play it from the mms message and cannot figure out how to get it off the phone (or select anything other than the defaults for sms alerts)?

Am I being stupid?

ok I have sent it to myself.

Now please do tell me how to make it a ringtone/sms tone (actually its a new sms tone I want it for if that can be done)

Thank you

You can't make SMS tones, only ringtones, unless you are jailbroke. For some reason, Apple didn't allow for that. If you still want to know, here's how:

1) in itunes, select which ever song i want to be a ringtone with a right click.

2) go to "get info".

3) select "options" when in song info screen.

4) in the time start/stop section, set the time frame of the ringtone you want(30 seconds or less). then close info window.

5) select same song with a right click then select "make AAC copy".

6) now you have a 30 second clip in itunes.

7) drag and drop 30 second clip to your pc desktop.

8) right click clip icon on desktop and select properties.

9) change file extension FROM m4a. to m4r.

10) the icon on your desktop should read "ring" now.

11) delete 30 second clip from itune you made earlier.

12) go back to your desktop, double click the audio/ringtone clip.

it will now play in itunes and clip will be located in your "ringtones" section.

This is really quite easy. Don't be overwhelmed by all the steps. Once you do it, you'll see.
