Is there a way to use my old 5K late 2014 as a second display with my new iMac 5K 2019

If you don't care about resolution, I think some people have used Elgato to run a second display iMac using USB 3.0 at 1080p 60Hz: https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/game-capture-hd60-s

It also means the full second system needs to be running just to use a second display that has less than half the resolution it normally does. But it is also better than nothing. Pre-5K iMacs allowed target display mode but Apple had to stop because the 5K iMac was actually using two video connections to get the 5K to work back then. Off the top of my head I believe it was seamlessly split down the middle of the display vertically and was a slightly hacky way to do it but I think it was also the first 5K display. Probably nowadays they can do it the normal way internally, but they've unfortunately never added the feature back. Not that that would benefit your 2014 anyway as I think that was first gen 5K.
