Never, ever, ever going to happen. The drivers are closely tied to many other components in the system, particularly all the frameworks etc. I never understood all the Lion hate, but no matter what I always update to the latest OS for no other reason than I want to get all the driver updates when they come out.
You can sometimes run .kext's from like 10.6.6 in 10.6.8. I did it a while back for After Effects CS5 OpenGL glitch on Nvidia prior to Apple releasing a fix. Also did it to fix some Steam issues. You need to be real comfy with OS X and do things in particular order and every time I tell someone how to do it they screw up their Mac so I wont be doing that here. But it is possible. You'll need to know Unix and have a copy of Pacifist.

between minor OS revisions, one or two GPU drivers may be updated, but in major updates, basically every single driver and framework is. and since they are intertwined and some are OS bound, it just does not work.
what you can try is to download the driver from Nvidias website. but after what I said above, don´t expect it to be SL compatible.

Not all my programs are compatible with Lion/ML. Also my Snow OS is running well and I have everything where I need it. I already have to spend so much time on learning all the new releases of my apps all the time, I really prefer to keep my OS for as long as possible. Just to save time.
Also Lion's GUI is a nuisance or to be less polemic, was created with a different audience in mind.
I have ML running on a partition and like it better than Lion, but it would still mean a lot of change and I have already spent way too much time on my computer over the last weeks.
Maybe eventually I will use ML and than I'll buy me a nvidia card... but that won't be soon.
