Could I use this as a way to create a poor mans surround sound for my Mac when playing movies or my Xbox360? I have 3 sets of very nice sounding computer speakers, but they are just that, computer speakers. If I were to get that decoder could I have various surround set ups up to 5.1 channels? I'm a bit confused on how you would hook center and LFE up though...(since its in one port).

You will still need an external amplifier. You will also need three stereo mini plugs to L/R RCA cables. 5 of the RCAs will connect to the amplifier and one will go to the subwoofer. The speakers will connect to the external amplifier.

However, not knowing what computer speakers you have, I'm not sure they would work with an external 5-channel amplifier.

Good luck!
