I just got back from ten days overseas and brought my iPhone, 11" iPad Pro, and a Kindle Paperwhite with me. This worked quite well. The iPad was a fine laptop replacement, and the Kindle gave me access to books to read. I also have an iPad Mini and have gone back and forth between that and my Pro for a while now. The pro was needed on the trip, but having the mini instead of the kindle would have been nice. Does anyone use two iPads regularly? It seems a bit much at first, but I wonder if that would be a viable option? Does it work well for you?

Honestly, I find having an extra works great so I always have one to use when the other is charging.

Better for battery longevity, too, since the load is spread out over multiple devices.

I have a Paperwhite as well but I read a lot of non-Kindle stuff and it's a pain having to USB connect to the PC and load it up with Calibre. I only use it when I've got a migraine or when I travel (12-16 hour flights, beach, etc).

I’m down to two, an iPP Pro 11 2021 and a Mini 6. I use both every day. I tend to use the iPP 11 during the day because it has a keyboard (ASK folio) and the Mini 6 at night after I go to bed. I also carry the Mini 6 when I’m out running errands, use it for navigation, and have it with me when I’m running trail cameras at our camp.

I read on a couple of Kindle Oases (original itty bitty one and the next generation larger one).

i have two, one from 2018, one from 2021.
bought my second one because the battery of the first showed first signs of aging and also the OS started slowing down the old one in some instances.
Using both since the old one is still great too and i don't care as much if something happened to it (droppimg, or robbery) so a great thing for traveling, the balcony, etc.

I'm using a Mini 5 and 9th Gen. Both are the last of the classic form factors which I'm a big fan of.

My Mini 5 serves as a color ereader and digital notebook/journal. My 9th gen iPad with the Apple Smart Keyboard is my ultra-portable netbook/chromebook.

I like the way these two options have a bit of overlap in their functionality. My Mini 5 usually has a smart cover on it. But when I want a super portable clamshell experience, I'll pop the cover off and insert the Mini into the Zagg keyboard case.

If I'm out and about with the 9th gen and want to use it as a digital notebook, I just pop off the smart keyboard and use it with the Apple Pencil.

As my sig shows, I have 4 devices, which includes 2 iPads. While I have been a long-standing user of the larger ipad, I am a recent user of the Mini.

Let me be frank here: In my use case, the degree of redundancy between the 2 iPads is much higher than what I estimated. This is likely because I have the same use - generally speaking - for both the iPads. It’s just that one is smaller in size than the other. So, does this mean I regret the purchase of the Mini? No, I don’t. I think of the Mini to be a complement to a complement insofar as my digital needs and devices are concerned. By that I mean that the ipad is a complementary device for me; it’s not a primary device. My Thinkpad is my primary device. How do I know? If you take my iPad away, I will be inconvenienced. If you take my Thinkpad away, I will be incapacitated. The Mini then is a complementary device to the larger ipad.

The above being given, I have found that I do like using the Mini to read when out and about. The form factor - as many have mentioned - just lends to the ease of use. I do watch YT on it but not very often as my phone is better suited for that (the phone’s screen is much better). Note taking is another thing that I do but to a lesser extent than on the larger iPad. The Mini works very well for epub and kindle books and Word documents but not so for PDFs. The larger iPad is better with PDFs. So, annotating on PDFs, which is a requirement for my work, is better done on the larger iPad.

So, there you have it. Do I need 2 iPads? No. Do I regret buying the Mini? No. Will I buy it again in the future? Very unlikely. Will I need an iPad in my bag? Absolutely (likely will be the larger one though).

I use my 11" M1 iPP for daily use and have the 12.9" 4th Gen iPP with MK for streaming news/talks/webinars near my work desk. My 11" is my main travel iPad as well. However, I am now thinking of replacing the 12.9" with S7FE which is similar screen size, cheaper and perfectly fine for streaming duties.

Put two iPads together side by side and use both at the same time with both hands.
Why not? Decades ago, I had a professor in an advanced physics class who could write out different equations simultaneously on the blackboard, using two hands, one above the other.

I use (2) iPad mini's. Primarily used simultaneously in my vehicle (Scout 800A).

It (vehicle) has a steel safety dash. I've placed ceramic magnets to the back side of my iPads, then they easily attach to the dash of my vehicle, and are easily removed when I need to leave the vehicle in a public area.

One iPad is used for audio/music, the other one I use for GPS navigation.

Works great for me and I'm very happy with this setup. I don't ever foresee a time that iPad's will replace my Mac or Solaris workstation at my desk, but for what the iPad's do for me, they do very well.

I have two iPads an 11 inch pro and an iPad mini 6. Usually the 11 inch pad stays at home and mini comes out with me. If I needed the pro for work whilst on a vacation I wouldn’t substitute the kindle for an iPad mini. I wouldn’t take two iPads. I’m going on vacation in a few weeks and I plan on taking my iPad mini as my tablet and my kindle oasis for reading. The pro will stay at home as always

Interesting. I’ve got all 3 sizes but mid-sized iPad + Kindle Paperwhite is what I usually take on vacations.

The mini is a bit too small for desktop versions of websites.

I have a iPad Pro 12.9 and an Air 4. I retired my 10.5 pro but honestly i loved that ipad pro to death. The Air is ok but next time i will go with a pro. The 12.9 is great and i love using it as a secondary screen. It’s great for note taking, brainstorming etc. The 12.9 stays home for the most part, the Air 4 since it has apple care goes everywhere But I prefer the 12.9.

I use three iPad Pros. 12.9 for coveted LazyBoy, 11” at office and latest mini for the bedroom. They all have specific purposes.

It’s amazing what the mini can do. I usually do my grocery shopping online and I use my mac at home. One time I wanted to do it at work so I took my iPad Pro 11 (grudgingly) with me and did it then because I though the mini would be too small. Last time I did my grocery shopping I’d forgotten to do it at home so I was at work and decided to do it. I only had my mini with me as by default my pro always stays at home. I did it on the mini with ease. Next time if I decide to do shopping at work I won’t even think about lugging my iPad Pro with me.

I’ve taken the older 9.7 inch iPads on vacation with me in the past and I’ve never enjoyed it.

I use an iPad Mini 4 & Mini 5 each day. Both are interchangeable for me as I use them to watch videos, browse websites and for Skype, etc… I like having 2 so I don’t have to be without a device when one is away getting charged, lol.

I’m amazed you can still tolerate the mini 4 for web browsing. I find Air 2 and mini 4 frustratingly slow nowadays.

I hear you about the swapping thing. I’ve always had at least two iPads since 2011.

Yeah. The Mini 4 does not provide a particularly great browsing experience. It’s just good enough but I won’t do any extended web-browsing sessions on it due to the ancient A8 SoC. It’s still perfect for YouTube and other media apps though along with Podcasts & Music. I’ll probably swap it out with another iPad, possibly the Mini 6, in 2023 so that the Mini 5 can be my substitute machine.
