iPhone X Used iPhone X vs. new iPhone Xr?

Putting any biases about buying a used iPhone aside - and assuming you could get a gently used, clean, excellent condition iPhone X, for about the same price as an iPhone Xr - which would you get?

For me, I'm an iPhone 6 user, so either will be a huge upgrade for me. I also don't like big phones - which is part of the reason I'm considering the used X in this scenario. However I'm a little uneasy about Face ID dependability, which I gather will be better on the Xr. Otherwise, I'm just looking for a functional phone that will last me at least 2-3 years.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I'm not expert, but I'm going to go XR.
I like colors
X may be a year old and have 1 year of battery use and warranty will be depleted as well by up to 1 year.
I have a hard time paying 25% off for a used item. It would have to be closer to 40-50% off for it to be worth it to me.
I use my phone a lot, its a premium purchase, and expensive to begin with, I'd rather have new.

The Xr has the longest battery life and looks the best for me. I owned the X and it was great OLED phone but battery life only last for 8-10 hours. The text and video are eye candy too with OLED but I have iPad for doing web surfing as well as a 32” desktop and 82” 4K for watching videos. Do not need it on my phone since I don’t think it is that good compare to my other options. I know it is just 720p too. LOL!

My experience with the iPhone 6 is that it worked flawlessly for the first couple years - it wasn't until later and it was out of warranty that I started to have minor issues. Thus I guess I tend to put less of a premium on the warranty. But battery is certainly a selling point - and it sounds like the Xr might be unbeatable in that category...

I vote Xr. I have the X and it is beautiful, but the battery and few other things (faster ID, colors, bigger size) fit more into my interests.

Depends on your usage - the faster chip on the Xr may be better for some apps & games.

The X has a better camera set-up and the screen is awesome, I have had no issues with Face ID, it works well.

If you can get a excellent condition X I would go for that.

No doubts. I would rather buy an used iphone XR rather than brand new X (which is technically obsolete).

BTW given that considerations about camera are questionable, yesterday Iphone XR has been ranked better than Iphone X by DxOMark

Screen resolution is prehistoric on the XR as priced too high in comparison with the X. Go with the X.

I don't know why people keep saying that the iPhone X has the better camera. Yes, the X has two lenses, which works better for portraits and zoom (if you even use that), but the main camera is way better on the XR.

Add to that the better chip, the better battery life, the Face ID, a great looking LCD screen (some people don't even notice the difference between OLED and LCD on a phone), etc.

No question about it: XR.

This is a tricky one as in so many aspects the X is better. But I would go for the XR (think of that battery life) plus its being a newer device. I love mine although I also have the XS Max.

Fairly sure the OP made their decision, as this thread was back in September and they were last online nine weeks ago.

More to the point, consumers do _not_ care about the liquid retina display on the XR. Most don’t even know what Screen resolution’ is or even what OLED is, they just see exactly what Apple markets, which is new colors, Face ID and form factor. Apple’s XR display is perfectly suitable for the consumer market, when are plenty of other notable features on the XR that are worth discussing over screen resolution.
