Hi guys. Apologies if this shouldn’t be here or it’s in the wrong page. I’m looking at a second hand MacBook Pro (2011). It’s up for sale as the seller has bought a new laptop. It’s described as good condition with usual wear and tear.

13 inch

2.4GHz Intel Core i5

4GB 1333MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 3000 384MB

With original box

It’s up for £200. I’m not looking to use it other than surfing on the web. I’m not a student etc so wouldn’t bother me if it’s out of date as I wouldn’t need it to write essays. Basically the question I would like to know is this worth a punt at £200? Or is this a waste. I’m not good with laptops or really in the know. Thanks in advance for your help guys and if you need to know any more about the laptop I can get details from the add. Again apologies if this shouldn’t be in this thread. Cheers

You can get a 2014 MBP 13" for about £325 used.
- Faster
- Better battery life
- SSD
- 8GB RAM Minimum
- Retina display
- Run the latest macOS

As for price. The 2011 looks go used for £150 to £175 with those specs. So, it isn't a great deal. That battery would have to be in excellent condition for that price. Even then running something like High Sierra with 4GB RAM and a hard drive won't be pleasant.
