Can some one tell me if all these USED MAC site have lost their minds? I saw a USED MAC-PRO NEHALEM 6 core 3.0for $2700. I looked over the specs very closely and it was nothing special

A new one doesn't cost that much and the new one had more RAM!

Hex core prices are crazy compared to DIY.

You can get the hex core refurb for $3200.

Or you can get the quad core refurb for $1900, add the hexacore for $600 and you'd be at $2500. That's $700 cheaper, and you could probably even sell the quad CPU you have left over.

It's even cheaper than the used store price you listed, and I'd argue that an Apple refurb is better than a user store computer any day.

Okay explain this..

APPLE SITE!

Apple Refurb 6 core 3.33

$3200

NEW 6 core 3.33 with more ram.

$3000
WTF MAN I MEAN WTF???

It is the older one and it costs more even though it is exactly the same. Why? Because of automation. Auto 15% off starting price = what you pay refurbed. Yes it is stupid. So get the cheaper/ newer one. People seem to think the world is controlled by other people who know what is going on. It is not.

The Apple refurb store just does a flat discount off original ticket, adjusted over time. With typical refreshes this results in a nice price curve over time, whereas with price-cut refreshes like the current Mac Pro had, which Apple usually doesn't do, you get oddities like what you see here.

Sometimes one sneaks past, a month ago bought a 2.8 quad (5.1) for $1000. Found it on a bankruptcy auction.
