just thinking of buying this pc cheap
Sorry about lack of detail on both pc's but this is all the info i have apart from they are both about 3 years old.

Complete PC DUALCORE - Comes with a fresh install of Windows XP - Intel Pentium D 2.66Ghz (x2 Dual Core) - 1Gb Ram

My pc at moment is
Pentium(R) 4 cpu 3.00ghz 2gig ram

Was wondering if the dualcore one is better than mine.
thanks macus.

No disrespect but I'm wondering why you're posting on these forums. These are the MacRumors forums and are specifically all things Mac related. Not to mention this particular section is the Mac Mini forum. It's not really the appropriate place to be asking for Windows PC advice. There are probably Windows PC specific forums you can ask for advice regards this.

What he said.

Anyways, with that specs, you wouldn't be able to do much anyways. If you really wanna game, save up and be patience.

Difference is small, both are slow.

If you plan on gaming, buy something newer.
Also the graphic card could be very different and thus making it impossible to tell.

Modern Gaming is heavily reliant on GPU performance for which you didn't post any information. I personally wouldn't buy a used PC with those specs. I would build it myself. also if the PC you buying comes with 1 gig of RAM I can only assume that it is fairly old, and is limited to 32 bit operating system because of the CPU. Plus 4+ gigs of RAM is pretty much standard nowadays. my Hp laptop I had 4 years ago came with 2 gigs of RAM.

When it comes to owning a PC for gaming it is best to build your own. From what I can tell from your post you don't seem to be too tech savvy when it comes to computer hardware, so take the time to do all the research yourself. I read computer forums and articles on building my own for about 4 months until I felt I understood it enough to build my own. It's really not that complicated. The hardest Part for me was deciding what type of gaming rig I wanted (Intel or AMD based).

If you don't want to do that you can save and purchase a gaming rig. I really can't find any reason to justify purchasing the machine with the specs you posted. its just way to dated from my perspective.

don't even think that any modern game will run on such specs, also there is no gpu which is required by most games these days to run properly.
