I just finished using Quickpwn and now all my contacts are gone and the settings are gone too so I can't even make a phone call with it, it says there's no service. Luckily I backed everything up but what did I do wrong? I followed this guide word for word: http://www.iphonehacks.com/2009/01/jailbreak3g-win.html

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated...

You did nothing wrong. Jailbreaking the iPhone will delete all your data (rtfm). If you followed step 1) of the preparatory steps, you should have a good backup in iTunes which will restore most of your data during the next sync.

As for not being able to make a phone call, I am not sure with the little information you provide. Did you try to activate the iPhone in iTunes? Are you using some HW/ SW unlock?

I didn't use any kind of unlock thing, I really don't know what I am doing but I just followed the steps on the guide I linked. I synced it like you said and it put all the contacts and music and everything back on there, cydia and installer are still there as well which is a bonus. My cousin took a look at the phone and said we need to find out the VPN settings? I don't even know what that means but I hope you can help me.

It certainly isn't the VPN settings. VirtualPrivateNetwork you only need if you like to establish a secure connection to you companies network for email etc. Maybe he is referring to the APN settings. Then again, you only would need those for data (internet) access or in case you use a MMS application.

So what are you saying is that your only problem now is that you can't make calls? What is happening if you try to make a call?

Just to make sure by "put everything on there" you mean put everything back on your PC/Mac? right?

Did you make sure the Sync contact option was checked under itunes BEFORE the jailbreak?

Can you double check your contact list on YOUR PC/MAC, because if they aren't there..then they wont be on your iphone, because more than likely you didn't sync all that info.

As for not being able to make any calls...when you jailbroke what did you answer to the question that goes along the lines "Are you an at&t customer that will be able to activate your phone through itunes" something like that

Did you answer yes?
