So I just got my AirPods Pro replaced using the Service Program, but I want to make sure that the new ones were manufactured after Oct, 2020. Is there a way to verify this? The firmware version that came on them was 2D27.

This service program is going to be like the keyboard repair program, replace with the same defective product. Then when the warranty period ends, they will ignore it and charge MSRP.

Probably true. Also, the replacement Airpods are not updating to 3A283 and I the serial number reads as "?"

That is strange, is there a set way to update AirPods? I just got my Pro's in early October so I'm not too familiar with them.

Connect them to your phone, plug into the charger and just wait. It'll probably update itself in 30min-1h, only way to update is this method.

Replacements came today. Serial number now shows as "?"

Can't tell when they were manufactured...

The replacements that I received last week were an older firmware and had the ? for the serial number for the first 1-2 days. It took forever for them to update the firmware. After 1-2 days I notice the firmware had updated and the serial # was correct. Just give it time. It freaked me out too. I think the serial number has to update to each airpods pro before the firmware updates.

I just got mine serviced today through the AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues. Mine was out of warranty but was having issues with static (white-noise like) sound emitting through both sides with ANC turned on as well as Transparency. They also would jump back and forth between OFF and Transparency mode even though I had set ANC on. This set was also already a replacement set back in January. I initiated a request through Chat support, and they did not want to honor a free replacement at all and said they wanted to charge me for a replacement. So I disputed that over the phone and they set up a Genius appointment for me. Had a lovely girl assist me and just ran a diagnostic test through her macbook and within about 5 minutes out came a replacement set on the table.

My replacement set originally showed a serial number of "?", but after connecting them to my phone a resetting them, I plugged them in (inside the charging case) and let them sit for about 10 minutes. The firmware upgraded from 2D27 to 3A283 and the serial number now shows up correctly and aligns with the serial number that shows on the top right hand corner of my Apple Store Work Authorisation and Service Confirmation.

I got my pair from Amazon on like Dec 2nd for around $197, which was why I got them! I’ve heard about only the ones made after Oct 2020 were safe from the issues by I don’t know if mine were of them. The box and AirPods themselves were 100% genuine, I checked every nook and cranny to make sure they were. The only other thing is they kept getting out of stock on Amazon for that price lol. This happened 3 or 4 times and then I was able to spot they were in stock and I ordered them.

When they replaced them in store did they have two separate boxes or one box for both AirPods?
