Hi you guys.... I hooked up my External Pioneer BDR-XD05S CD-DVD Recorder with MacBook Pro Laptop Catalina 10.15 today and it didn't seem to mount.

It mounts fine on my MacPro (Mojave 10.14.6). Both CD and DVD.

I just plugged it into my USB hub to see if it would mount correctly.... it didn't.

Any ideas?

This is a "small" drive that doesn't come with its own power supply, is that correct?

Did it come with a "Y-cable" by any chance?

REASON WHY I asked that.
SOME... not all, but some... DVD drives seem to want more USB "bus power" than can be obtained over a single port connection.

Thus, the Y-cable:
- single end goes to the DVD drive
- double end goes to TWO USB ports, instead of one.
Connected this way, the drive now has enough "power".

And a Fishrrman "dumb question" as well:
Did you go to the finder, open settings, and make sure the option to mount CDs and DVDs on the desktop was checked?
