Hi all,
I've just ordered a new i7 27" iMac which should arrive in a few days now.. I've been using a Dell U2711 27" 2560x1440 screen with my 13" Retina MBP (Late '13) via a miniDP(Thunderbolt 2) to DP cable. Now I'd quite like to use this screen with the iMac also - how can I do that?
The USB-C to T'bolt 2 adapters don't support DP:
So looks like that's NOT an option..
I've just tried connecting the MBP to the screen via HDMI but out of the box Sierra is running it at 1920x1080. I can get it to full resolution via SwitchResX but it's blurry as hell for some reason - not sure if this is due to the 2013 13" MBP or the U2711 doesn't like it - but I figure it'd either just work or not..
The only 2017 iMac compatible adapter is a VGA one (!) according to this page
So not sure what to do here - looks like limited support for external monitors? Or is my U2711 just out of date re HMDI support?!

Note: This adapter does not support DisplayPort displays like the Apple LED Cinema Display or third-party DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort displays. For more information, visit the Apple Support pagefor the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.
