"Using a mac mini as a wireless external hard drive...

Would you be able to use a mac mini for this?

I may be buying one in the next couple of days for a crazy cheap price from a friend.

I'm very interested in forwarding downloaded files to a mini. :] Like just automatically set the destination towards the HD in the mini. :] muahaha

Sure that's possible albeit kinda overkill. :p

It won't be very fast but it's pretty easy to set up.
You can either have the drive setup over an ethernet network, or a firewire network. Or you can have the Mini setup in FireWire Target Disk mode all the time. Either way is pretty quick but, the only wireless solution is to either have the Mac Mini connected to a Wireless router, or install a wireless card in the Mac Mini. That way you can setup file sharing and everything should work fine. I don't know how fast it would be, it wouldn't be too slow though I guess. :)
