Using a MacBook Pro monitor on a Mac Pro

Hello guys,

I have a new Mac Pro desktop machine and an old 2011 MacBook Pro laptop. I would like to use the monitor from the laptop as an additional monitor for the Mac Pro. I should be able to connect it through thunderbolt. Does anybody know if this is possible? I know it is possible with an iMac, but a MacBook Pro?

No, not with a MacBook Pro. Only with certain iMacs.
