I recently purchased a new iPad Pro for research purposes. My students and researchers will be using the LIDAR function to take images and interpret the distance from subject to iPad, and to calculate dimensions of the subject.

However, I want to create a unique and new Apple ID for the device that everyone can access, but is not tied to my existing or any other Apple ID. Is this possible? I thought I could establish a new email (say a new GMail with a generic name for my group) to be shared with everyone, but then I think I need to input a phone number, and that would be tied to my existing Apple ID.

One of my researchers will be the main user of the device. Would it be easier if I just ask her to establish a new Apple ID under her name and then advise her to not put any private or sensitive information on the iPad? (I don't think she is an existing Apple user.)

I would like others to be able to access the iPad if necessary, or at the end, to wipe clean the iPad and not worry about holdovers from the previous users.

Thanks.

You can create a new Apple ID just for this usage, and then give those that will be using it the useID and password.
Thanks, but what personal ID do I have to include with creating the new Apple ID? I don't want to give, say, my personal email because I don't want the device to sync with any of my preferences or personal information.

Create a new Apple ID using a new iCloud email. That new email will be the Apple ID. If you don't want to use iCloud, you can use another email service for the name of the new Apple ID.

The new Apple ID will not sync with any of your preferences and information currently being used by your personal Apple ID, so long as you don't log into the account on one of your devices and merge the data from it to your persona account.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
