Hi,

I'm considering upgrading my VR/Gaming machine, build on a classic Mac Pro. It currently has a GTX 1070, but I'm thinking about upgrading that to a RTX 2080 Super:

If this works and performs better, I may just replace my Zotac 1080EN with this setup.

However, I have questions/concerns:

1. Will this card fit (it looks thicker than others) and will the Mac Pro have enough power to power it?
2. Should I get better gaming performance from a RTX 2080 Super even if on PCIe 2.0 spec than a normal GTX 1080 in my Zotac 1080EN? I primarily play FPS and VR.

Thanks for your help.

The card has an 8 pin and a 6 pin power connector. Therefore with a cMP 5,1 you would need an external power supply.

The card has an 8 pin and a 65 pin power connector.

I've never seen a video card with a 8 pin + a 65 pin power connector. Are you sure you aren't confusing the SLI connector for a power connector?

If this 2080 won't work, do you know of any that would without an external power supply?

Booting Windows in EFI mode is no longer problematic using Open Core and the latest configurations from the community.
