using an hold HD?

My macbook was recently totaled due to someone stealing it, trashing it, and turning it in to the lost and found afterwards. (My ipod was also stolen from the bag along with my sleeping medication ). Insurance is going to get me a new one, but I have the microsoft office suite on it along with notes and some other software. If I took the hard drive out of my old one and put in the new one, would it work? Also, would I still be able to boot in Vista since I had bootcamp installed on it?

If you take the hard drive from one Macbook and put it in another, the new Macbook will behave exactly (minus any hardware differences) like the old one. As long as the drive is not damaged, you should be fine.

Just one alternate suggestion. If you can afford a little extra for an external 2.5" enclosure (make sure to get a SATA one!!!), a much better option is to put the old drive into it, get SuperDuper, and then use SuperDuper to clone the data back onto the drive in the new Macbook. This way you also have a backup device once you're done. 2.5" enclosures are fairly cheap.

P.S. Honestly, my friend, "an hold HD?" What on earth does that mean? Old? How hard is it to spell the word "old" correctly? It only has three letters.
