I have been contemplating an ipad for company use and trying to think of the best way to approach the owner about it. I thought of an idea that would pretty much guarantee that he would buy us all one(only 3) but this idea would have to be possible for him to go for it.

Is there anyway to take one of our company work orders that we use daily out in the field and put it on a ipad for regular use? Basically just a blank work order and we would fill it out and save it after each job and then At the end of the week just upload them to office computer and print them out. Would something like this be possible? If not it'd make for a great app in my opinion! Just thought i'd run it by everyone and see. I'd love to have an ipad but it's just not finacially in my near future! But if this can be done, I'll soon be the proud owner of one!

Do you need the customer to sign your work-sheet?

If not, for example bento for iPad will allow you to create a sheet, or take one of the other note taking apps..

Tip: unless you have a very very nice boss who takes joy in making you happy, try to create a "win-win" scenario (oh, oh cliché-alert...); I.e. Find ways how he could benefit from the purchase (like motivated workers, impressed clients, better workflow...)

Hope you'll come up with some convincing arguments and join the iPad-owners club soon ... ;)

Good luck
