Using another iMac as a monitor?

Is it possible to connect my MBP to an iMac with a DVI to DVI cable and use the iMac as a monitor substitute?

I need to present something really soon but I can't burn it nor do I have access to a real LCD for the moment but I do have a bigger 24'' iMac.

Yes that's a good idea. Worse case scenario would be to transfer the file to the iMac and play it there. But this video is 30gigs big and I don't know how much room the iMac has. Is it still possible to video out to the iMac?

If you have an external drive, you could play it off the drive.
