I currently have my apple TV connected to my iMac, but want to use my powerbook to work with my Apple TV as my iMac is gone out for repair. All my files for iTunes are on a drobo NAS and I have tried pointing my iTunes in my powerbook to the Drobo but nothing changes. All the iTunes library is stored on the drobo so the Apple TV says there is no content unless the iMac iTunes is connected. Can I get it to recognize that the library is streaming though the powerbook as the iMac isn't there?

First, add the content on your Drobo to your laptop. Either hold the option key while dragging it into iTunes, or go into iTunes prefs --> advanced and uncheck "Copy files to iTunes..." You must have done this already for your iMac, so just do it again for your laptop.

Then, you need to make sure that the Apple TV is listed as a device in iTunes on your laptop. It sounds like currently it's not. Go to Settings --> Computers on the ATV and either add a library to stream from (you can stream from up to 5 computers, but only sync from one), or change the synced computer from your iMac to your laptop.

ok, I did that and the content from my drobo is still not showing up in my iTunes. Under preferences in iTunes the location of the iTunes music folder is Drobo External Drive:iTunes. Not sure why my content isn't appearing.
