I know I've seen this asked before, but I never saw any good answers. I'm moving into an apartment over the weekend, but it looks like my internet service won't be hooked up until next Thursday. I'm trying to figure out a way to make my ATV work until then.

For starters, can I turn on the hotspot, connect my ATV and iPad and AirPlay over that connection without damaging my iPhone or somehow using cell data in the process? Would they even see each other over that connection?

I think I have the setup beyond that worked out, but I'm going to be there part of the day tomorrow with just a TV and my iPad. I was hoping that I could watch a little bit of something while I waited, but if not, no biggie.

Just looking for thoughts and opinions.

That type of connection will not work that way I believe, the hotspot is not seen as wifi.

If you have a desktop/laptop you could make that a wifi hotspot (sans internet) and possibly connect over that. Mainly to connect to each other they just need to correct protocol afaik.

Ok, that's about what I figured. I think once I get the full computer setup over there, it'll be ok. It's just between now and then that I'm trying to figure something out. I've got a Win 7 machine that I can use the Internet Connection sharing feature on, and that should do enough... I hope.

I guess we'll see...

I think it would work, though how well I don't know. At work I use my iPhone as a hotspot and connect a PowerBook and iPad to it, I can print to that powerbook's printer via printopia from iPad or iPhone. I have no idea whether the iPhone"s wifi is fast enough for video steaming though.
