Using Data ONLY plan with Skype (no Voice contract)

Has anyone used a jailbroken (and possibly unlocked) iPhone that runs Skype in the background with a 3G data plan and no voice plan?

If so:

-How long have you used it?
-Have you missed calls or have you encountered any problems?
-What carrier's data plan do you use?
-What is the total cost each month? (data+skype plan)

Most importantly, is it worth the trouble?

I don't even know if you can have a plan that is data only (at least not on AT&T). That would be a very attractive option for many people though.

The main problem with Skype in my experience is that the call quality is suspect (I'm on a jb 3GS). I've experienced dropouts and other weird noises while on a call so I really haven't used it all that much even though I have the unlimited US and Canada plan ($8.40 every 3 months). I'm hoping that since AT&T is now allowing VOIP over 3G, Skype will come up with a way to improve the voice quality but who knows. As it is right now, I only use it to make outgoing calls to non-AT&T customers and that's minimal at best.

yeah, i'd also say that the sound quality is a bit unusual from a typical cell phone. It's attractive but i know it's also very unproven. We'll see with time.

I have a JB & Unlocked 3GS. I'm using a BB Data Plan/No Voice Plan. I have a yearly plan with Skype Out & In and havi it Integrated with Google Voice. I also use Textnow integrated with Google Voice.

My total yearly cost for unlimited US/Canada Voice and Unlimited Text is $64.

Quality of voice calls over 3G is not bad at all. Quality of text is perfect.
