I have Direct tv and want to use eyetv hybrid to record tv on my Macbook Pro. how can i connect the two together? The guy from direct tv who installed the unit said there was a way through a converter but my dumb ass forgot to write it down when he told me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

what is the connection on the Hybrid? if its coax, you should be able to go coax out from the box to the hybrid. if its composite, then the RCA outs should connect. the only thing i dont know about with the hybrid is does it have an IR repeater to put in front of the directv box to change the channel and record via the eyetv software.

the eyetv HD will do all of that, so I am just not familiar with the hybrid.

You could get the signal into the hybrid via either the coax or RCA (as long as you have the little adaptor that came with Hybrid), but there wouldn't be any way to change the channel automatically, which would make EyeTV quite a bit less useful.
