i just spent allot of cash on stuff and dont have plans tll the end of summer/fall to buy a wifi router i just want a temporary solution

thanks

does what you are talking about (the router) have WiFi? Do you mean you don't want the name of the AP to be broadcast so that no one but you knows its there? If you want an answer, please make your question a little clearer.

But if your saying what I think your saying, in the router prefs (192.168.1.1 usually) turn off Wireless SSID Broadcast, then on your mac enter the SSID manually in the wireless setup wizard, or on any other equiptment you want to use with it

 Don't do it unless you really like kernel panics. The DWL-122 is one of the worst bits of kit I've ever used with a Mac.

No, you need an Apple Airport card. If one's in your G5 already, then you can just use the G5 to connect to the internet. Otherwise, you'd have to buy a Router because I'm not sure the DWL-122 would work for the Mac.

Looks like it can. Just use the Airport connection wizard, go to create network, Adhoc, and set it up that way. You'll only get 11mbps though. :)

In my experience, the DWL-122 works very good under OS X as an airport card. In System Preferences, under sharing, try setting it to share the ethernet connection (from ethernet) via AirPort...I'm not 100% sure if you can do that, but it's worth a try.

I hate the DWL-122. I had one just die after about 2 years of usage. It just kept dropping packets left and right. In a ping test to the router for about an hour and a half, it dropped more than 50%. I would just recommend getting a router for dirt cheap.

OT: benthewraith, love your avatar. Glad to see a fellow Stargate watcher.
