using energizer usb charger for ipod touch 2nd gen?

I have this usb charging energizer (two parts connected by a usb interface so you can use usb or ac power to charge battery)

I was thinking why i can't connect the usb to its interface and put the ac power on. it should work because that part converts ac power to usb power, right? any idea?:rolleyes:
