Hello,

Those of you who use Exchange on your iphone, do you find it pretty reliable? I currently use a Blackberry with BES service. I like the two-way sync for mail (all folders) and calendar. I understand that with the iphone, my tasks and notes wouldn't sync but that's fine.

Some quick questions:
1) Do you find Exchange on the iphone pretty reliable? Are emails are pushed to the phone almost instantly.

2) My understanding was all mail accounts have the same signature. Does this include Exchange accounts as well? If I have an Exchange account and a Gmail account set up on my iphone, can I have a sig for just the exchange account?

3) If I send an email from my computer (with the Exchange account's address) will it show up on my iphone in the Sent Messages?

Thanks in advance. :)

i have been using exchange on my 3G and 3GS for approximately 12 months. i have found the following:

1. email is pushed to the phone instantly, usually within a few seconds of each other. (computer and phone) contacts and calendars update within approx 30 seconds in my experience.

2. i have not found a way to change my signatures at this point.

3. yes, if you send mail from your computer it does show in your sent mail. and vice versa.

hope this helps.

Also, Exchange works very well in syncing events and contacts. If your organization uses a global address list, you can access that from the phone -- which is *very* convenient.

Notes don't sync over the air, calendar entries (and therefore tasks) do, infact I think notes are the only things that don't sync. Although if you use iTunes and Outlook (Since you're an exchange user I assume you use outlook) then your notes can be synched easily.

I've found the iPhone/iTouch to be better at exchange than most MS driven phones actually, surprising..

Edit: Don't use push over 3g, it destroys your battery life, I personally have mine fetch every 15 minutes, although I don't get much mail.

I saw on here about that getsyncd service. signed up and like it a lot. they sync my contacts and email and calendar really well. only issue I have is that the signature on the iPhone is for all the mail accounts

1. Yes, nearly as reliable as my BB on BES was.

2. Yes, there is only one place to set a signature and it applies across all accounts -- exchange included. This is one of my biggest gripes.

3. Yes, it syncs with your "sent items" folder on the exchange server so the sent items folder on the iphone and on your workstation's outlook are identical, regardless of whether the messages are sent from the iphone or from your workstation (or through citrix or some other remote location). This is true of not only the sent items folder, but whatever other folders you have that you tell it to keep in sync. The only difference between the way the iphone does it and the way my BB on BES did it is that when you go into the sent items on the iphone, it needs to take a minute to load all of the messages that occurred since the last time you went in the folder on the iphone. If you have shoddy cell coverage at the time and/or if you have sent a lot of messages since the last time you checked them on the iphone, this takes awhile. BES does it differently and I never had this issue.

LOVE my Mailstreet Exchange which includes OWA and a free copy of OL 2007. PERFECT Exchange solution for me.
