Here's a simple trick I invented this morning.
I sometimes keep notes to myself in TextEdit windows while I'm working. Sometimes I save them when I'm done, but more often I don't. It's one of many ways to simulate a Scrapbook. I have the iClip widget and I've used multiple-clipboard tools too, but I find TextEdit just as convenient.
If I have 2 or 3 or 4 of these "notes" windows open, named Untitled.txt, Untitled 2.txt, etc., then when I have them minimized I can't tell them apart in the dock.
So here's my new trick: I type a short name at the top of the file and set it to 120-point type. Now I can tell which notes file is which in the dock and I don't even have to hover to see filenames!
